New York Fashion Week.. what a whirlwind. I had never been more exhausted in my entire life! Seriously not even being dramatic. Day 1 was an eventful one so let’s get started!
Jaclyn, Whitney, Luisa and I were on the same 6 a.m. Delta flight from Dallas to La Guardia. (I’m an American Airlines girl myself but when I was searching, the non-stop Delta flight was only $180 which is kinda insane! I sent the flight deets to the girls and we were locked in!) Upon arrival we took an Uber to our HomeAway in West Village so that we could quickly change and freshen up for the day’s events.
We immediately had an open house event with Shopbop. On the street I saw Lea Michele (think Glee!) and instantly knew the week was going to be quite the adventure. This was reaffirmed by the fact that I stepped into Shopbop and within 7 seconds spotted Jen Saviano from Ben’s season of the Bachelor. I just about tripped over myself haha. Y’all know how obsessed I am with the Bachelor franchise!! I’m not even embarrassed about it, I totally fangirled. And she was the nicest. We ended up hanging out with her for an hour or so, making pins, beanies, sipping prosecco, and playing with puppies at Shopbop!
From Shopbop I confirmed once again that my suspicions about fall trends were correct: white accessories and lots of marigold. Marigold is the color of the season so be sure to incorporate it into your wardrobe 🙂 .
Then I had a meeting with Maybelline backstage for the Kim Shui show. I actually had several backstage meetings with Maybelline for various shows over the weekend, but unfortunately this is the only one I made it to! I met the lead make up artist, Grace Lee, and the lead hair stylist, Michael Forrey of Sassoon Salons, who each explained to me their visions for the runway and how they were making them come to life on their respective models. Y’all know I’m not the best about make up, but an interesting tip I learned from Grace about achieving a dewy look is to use Baby Lips chap stick instead of gloss on eyelids (not on the lash line but above the eyelid so the eye shadow doesn’t cake).
After my Maybelline meeting I rushed back to the Homeaway to change for the Shopbop party! I bought the blush dress in these photos from them, so I felt like it was an appropriate choice! Afterwards, the girls and I headed to Rooftop 93 for some wine and views before eating a super late dinner at Paesano’s in Little Italy. [This was a rec from my boyfriend who is actually from New York! Authentic Italian, yum!]
It had only been a day but I was exhausted, and the adventure had just started! Also can you tell I only ate one real meal all day?! And it was at like 11 p.m. Bad planning on my part!! Luckily I learned from this for *some* of the days ahead haha! Be sure to check back tomorrow for a recap of day 2!
