I just realized that NYFW was almost a month ago now. If you’re new to my blog or if you haven’t been updated lately, I’m currently studying for the GMAT exam. My test is in 8 days which is why my posts have been sporadic and I’m truly sorry for that! But a girl’s gotta prioritize. Today I was feeling overwhelmed so my dad advised I take a break, hence why I’m writing this post now! Saturday (Day 3) was my favorite day of NYFW so here’s a short little recap.
I got my hair blown out at 9 a.m. at Blo Blow Dry Bar (walking distance from our Homeaway). Soon thereafter, Whitney, Jaclyn and I headed to the Banana Republic Show early. It was the launch of Olivia Palermo’s new fall line and since she was going to be there doing a meet and greet, we knew it would be crazy! We met up with our friends Rachel from Between Two Coasts and Carin from Lace and Lashes, and were ushered inside.
The set up was different than typical runway, as the show was in Banana Republic’s beautiful 5th Avenue store. It was kind of genius honestly, because as soon as the show was over, everyone inside could shop the collection right then and there. This was my favorite piece. I’m thinking about buying it for my trips to Boston/Rochester next month! SWOON!
P.S. In typical NYC fashion, some protesters started harassing the models on their platform outside so they had to rush the models back in. Supposedly one of the models was tackled!! We missed the bulk of the commotion, but they wouldn’t let any of us out of the store for a while!
By this time we were STARVING (does NYC always have this effect?!) so we walked to Claudette and the 5 of us had a cute little French lunch. I had the eggs Benedict.. highly recommend!
The event that we were all looking forward to the most was rewardStyle’s rooftop soirée at La Sirena. If you’ve ever seen photos from a rewardStyle event, you know they go all out! I mean a lot of their platform revolves around having that perfect Instagram aesthetic.. so their attention to detail is immaculate. I was able to meet a lot of bloggers here that I had connected with virtually and was SO HAPPY to finally meet so many of them in person!
An aside– if you’re a fellow blogger reading this post: I read some people’s opinions and heard some rumors about the party that really surprised me. Try not to make up drama in your head!! Everyone was really nice and friendly, swear. Yes, if you’re in a sea of 200+ people, many of whom you don’t know, you’re most likely going to cling to the friends you already know. Who wouldn’t?! I certainly did. My advice to you always is to keep your head above the fray! Save the drama for your personal life; your blog is your business and you should treat it that way! Just my two cents 🙂 .
Anyway, towards the end of the night us Dallas babes merged groups with some NYC bloggers and hopped from La Sirena, to Tao for some drinks, to Fatbird for the latest dinner ever! We spent a few hours there talking, drinking, and mostly laughing (props to the waiter for putting up with us haha)! Now I want the NYC girls to visit us in Dallas!
Thanks again for reading, and for being patient with me as the blog content continues to be scarce. Just a few more weeks and it will be back to normal. As always, I appreciate your support more than you know!
