“You know my code: hoes before bros. Uteruses before duderuses…Ovaries before brovaries.”
Today is February 13, which for us Parks and Rec fans is an OFFICIAL holiday. HAPPY GALENTINE’S DAY!!! I thought today was the perfect day to celebrate the women in my life that bring me so much joy, empowerment, and laughter.
I didn’t want to talk about being single on Valentine’s Day, because the truth is I’m just not that sad about it. That might make me weird, but I think the only time I was ever sad to be single on Valentine’s was my sophomore year of college. Since we were kids, my parents always made it a point to involve my sisters and I as part of their Valentine’s. My mom would make us all a special breakfast, and they would always include us in their dinner plans. So I grew up knowing that my family was always going to be my Valentine no matter what! ♥
But today is about the GIRLS and the female friendships that keep you going year round. You don’t need just one day to tell them this, but I think it’s special to have a day dedicated to celebrating your besties. I personally have tickets tonight to 50 Shades Freed with my girls Whitney of Whit’s Whims and Jaclyn of My View in Heels and am PUMPED! And to the rest, here are my love letters:
A Letter to my Galentine’s
To my Mama– I LOVE YOU MOM!!! Thanks for letting me hang out with you when I don’t have plans on the weekends and for always being #loyal.
To my sisters– YOU CUTIES!!! I love you guys and enjoy watching you become strong leaders in the workplace and the community. Your futures are so incredibly bright, it’s blinding!! Besitos!
To Lauryn– You get your own line because I am just so obsessed with you and I’ll never think a man is ever good enough for you. But I pray that one day you’ll find one that comes close enough! 🙂 I’d marry you myself if I could HAHA! On a more serious note, thank you for taking care of me in Austin the year I was sick. I really, really couldn’t have gotten through that year without you.
To my elementary friends– It’s not enough to say we’re friends, since y’all are family. From Girl Scouts, to soccer practice, to environmental club, to choir, to band, and all the activities in between. XOXO
To my high school friends– I’m so excited to be a part of y’alls wedding days this year! The dance team wasn’t always a walk in the park (haha!) but the friendships that came out of it mean so much to me!
To my college friends– LASSO LOVE ENDLESSLY. Fall ’11 for life #HTH. And my family line, literally the most successful women in the game. LL ♥
To my corporate friends– I’ve enjoyed working with you and am in awe of all the hard work each of you put into your jobs every day!
To my blogger friends– It’s only been a little over a year since I’ve known y’all, but we’ve been through a lot and I am SO GRATEFUL to have people to ask 2345368 questions to. Going to events together and traveling together has made me SO HAPPY and excited this past year.
To my readers– If I don’t know you, but you have supported DWTO in any way, just know that you are so appreciated and I hope we meet IRL soon! Whether you are happy with your hubs or boyfriend, or whether you’re in a period of singleness at the moment, here is my Leslie Knope-ism for you:
“You are the most beautiful, glowing sun goddess ever.”
