First off, I want to apologize for the questionable quality of these photos! But let’s be honest.. bringing a professional camera to Disney and/or to the sandy beach isn’t always practical! So I’m hoping y’all will forgive me!
The past couple days have been such a blur; we’ve been doing so much! But I’ll try to keep my thoughts as organized as possible..
Manhattan Beach is a great family beach with lots of good restaurants, boutiques, and name brand stores. If you live in LA, just FYI Lucky Brand is having a huge 60% off sale! Their store manager is the sweetest person and helped me find the perfect pair of jeans. Jennifer, I’m not sure if you’ll ever read this, but I just want to thank you so much for going the extra mile and digging through all those jeans to find exactly what I had in mind, and thank you also for celebrating with me that I had officially gone down a size! She even found me a pair of cut off shorts for $18 y’all. Such a steal.
Yesterday, my family and I went to Disney Land (no..never too old for Disney..), and something about going there as an adult just gives you a whole new perspective. Instead of being excited about seeing princesses and colors, I kept thinking to myself what an INCREDIBLE use of technology and architecture and engineering it takes to make each ride a special experience. Not to mention some HUGE marketing plays. I’m not sure if this is new or if I’m just now noticing it, but large corporate companies are starting to sponsor rides and incorporate their branding into them. For example, Honda sponsors Autopia (a car track), Dole sponsors the Tiki Room and serves Dole Whip right outside (pictured above), and Siemens has included their signage in It’s A Small World–just to name a few! As a marketing major and marketing professional myself, I find this super fascinating and totally genius. Of course my mind also wanders in other places watching families throughout the park like, “Am I even going to be a good mom? I don’t know about carrying my screaming child in this 90 degree heat..” “I definitely need to dress my babies up as princesses when I bring them.” “How do people stand in line with young children all day?” In any case, I had a great time despite the heat (STAR WARS WOO!) but am ready for a relaxing beach day today for my Dad’s birthday!
A quick note about the outfit– this tank is under $9 by Sun and Shadow and is so comfy and flattering. I bought it in more colors than I care to admit haha.. Shoes are also 50% off! Yay for sales! I also love that tying your jacket around your waist is a trend that’s back in. So convenient.
So much more to come.. thank you for following along 🙂
